Ideas Lab

On October 8, 2021, LSSTC held our first Ideas Lab, an online informational and networking event designed to help applicants learn more about the Fellowship, meet the Rubin LSST community, and think about the research they would be interested in conducting as an LSSTC Catalyst Fellow. Senior scholars from prospective host institutions participated in the Ideas Lab to meet with prospective applicants and discuss salient questions in their chosen field(s) of astrophysics as well as the unique opportunities presented by LSST data.  The event was not part of the Fellowship selection process, so don’t worry if you missed it.

The first hour of each Ideas Lab session provided background on Rubin LSST, including the current state of the Rubin Observatory, the timeline for first light, and an overview of expected data products. The Info Session also reviewed specifics on the LSSTC Catalyst Fellowship, including its goals and unique approach, its structure within the LSST Corporation and LINCC communities, and its application and selection process.  You can watch the recording of the Info Session below:
