LSSTCorp’s new Director for Science, Jennifer (Jeno) Sokoloski, comes to us from Columbia University, where she performs multi-wavelength observations of interacting binary stars and stellar transients as a Research Scientist at Columbia’s Astrophysics Laboratory.
Jeno received her undergraduate degree in Physics from MIT and her PhD in Physics from the University of California at Berkeley, and then held an NSF Astronomy and Astrophysics Postdoctoral Fellowship. Jeno brings her scientific background in astronomy and physics, as well as her experience as President of the non-profit American Association of Variable Star Observers, to this position.
When you meet her, her passion for her chosen profession is well-evident. She is a thoughtful and enthusiastic communicator and will be an integral member of the Corporation’s development effort in support of our mission and vision.
